Description

Number four: family accommodation in nature

Number four: family accommodation in nature on the south bank of the mighty Umzimkulu River. It’s perfectly safe (read: really shallow). Views are spectacular with nature enveloping you from all sides. Sounds like a jungle sometimes! Birdlife is plentiful with fish eagles and a seasonal osprey vying for dominance. Otters and turtles can be spotted. Sharks too! Monkeys often pay a visit to cause as much chaos as they can with the dogs (security team).

This is a spacious and versatile unit that sports two bedrooms, and a bunk in the lounge if needed. Real cool for families or groups of friends. And an interleading secret door between the two units can be activated making for a lot of space for a lot of fun for a lot of people!

The kitchen is well equipped with a toaster, kettle, oven/stove and microwave . And can support the braai and entertainment area readily. And just out front is the most photographed swing in the world. And a really cool fire pit that helps to light the sky on some evenings.

An added bonus to Number Four (and the others), is the recent addition of a genuine fire brick pizza oven! It is a few steps away from the braai area but runs on wood and has added a whole new perspective, as we can now cater – seafood and pizza on request! At the moment its been sardine pizza, after sardine pizza! No complaints! Some with the odd splash of crayfish too!

This is a very wheelchair friendly spot too, with parking right close, and easy access all round.

Fishing is one of the major attractions here at the Umzimkulu Marina and we cater to it all. We can take one of the boats down to the Sandspit at the river mouth where anything can and does happen. A favourite fishing pastime is trolling the river with artificial baits. Catching kingfish, and even shad, as they go a bit crazy during sardine season and venture right on up to where we are. But, conditions permitting, deep-sea is where its at. Gamefish and billfish, or even bottom fishing is available on some days.
